CREDIT PORTSMOUTH POLICE DEPARTMENT

A New Hampshire State Rep from Hudson has pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual assault involving a 16-year-old girl.

Twenty-nine-year-old Eric Schleien has been charged with one count of sexual assault and two counts of simple assault.

According to police records, the teen alleged she started talking to Schleien for political advice last summer and that Schleien crossed the line both verbally and physically when the two met up in Portsmouth.

The two-term Republican lawmaker has denied these allegations. Neither he nor his lawyer could be reached for comment.

Each of the charges carries a one year sentence as well as a $2,000 fine.
