Sen. Tim Scott Honors Charleston Shooting Victims

Senator Tim Scott, the first black Republican U.S. senator elected in South Carolina since reconstruction, joins NPR's Michel Martin to recall his friend Clementa Pinckney, one of nine people killed by a gunman in the church shooting in Charleston, South Carolina.

Scott says this horrendous crime is not only reflective of the racial climate in South Carolina, but the United States, and doesn't have a simple political solution.
