Ski Industry Bounces Back In Big Way After Down Season
New Hampshire’s ski industry rebounded in a big way this past winter.
There was a 21 percent increase in downhill skier and snowboarder visits compared to the previous season.
New Hampshire ski resorts logged 2.3 million visits from downhill skiers and snowboarders during this past season.
That was markedly better than last year, and a 5 percent increase over the ten-year average.
Ski New Hampshire President Alice Pearce says the turnout was exactly what the industry needed after a down season a year ago marred by an extreme lack of snow.
“What really made the difference for us in terms of business was a really snowy March and April. And it hasn’t been snowy in March and April for quite a few years.”
The data released Thursday showed visits from cross country skiers more than doubled this past season.
And areas with snowtubing parks reported a 23 percent increase over the previous season.
