Governor Chris Sununu will nominate new commissioners for the state Department of Environment Services and Department of Labor at Wednesday’s Executive Council meeting.

Sununu has tapped Peter Kujawski of Bedford to lead Environmental Services. Kujawski previously worked as director of View, Inc. a manufacturer of high endurance glass. Before that he was vice president at gun-maker Sig Sauer.

As commissioner of DES, Kujawski would be charged with environmental enforcement and regulations including issues like water contamination.

For state Labor Commissioner, Sununu has selected Kenneth Merrifield who has served as Mayor of Franklin for the past nine years. The Department is responsible for upholding state labor laws for both employers and employees.

Both Kujawski and Merrifield will need to be confirmed by the Executive Council.
