Sununu Youth Services Center Director Leaving for Out-of-State Job

The director of operations at New Hampshire's youth detention center has resigned to take an out-of-state job.

Brady Serafin led the Sununu Youth Services Center for 2 ½ years. Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Jeffrey Meyers said Thursday that Serafin served the department with distinction. Serafin also was chief of the Bureau of Family, Community, and Program Supports in the Division for Children, Youth and Families.

Serafin's resignation came a month after The Disability Rights Center of New Hampshire accused the Sununu center of breaking the law when a teenage boy's shoulder blade was fractured. The advocacy group said staff used excessive force on the teen. Meyers and Attorney General Gordon MacDonald called the report unfounded and irresponsible.

Meyers said a search for a new, permanent director will start immediately.
