The company said it had more than 500 workers in the field Sunday to deal with outages, though officials said that work could continue into Monday.

Update Sunday 7/24 10 am: The state says workers are cleaning up roads and utility crews are working to restore power following Saturday's severe thunderstorms.

Governor Maggie Hassan says the state activated its Emergency Operations Center late Saturday to coordinate storm response with local officials.

"We are grateful that no one was injured in yesterday's severe thunderstorms, but many homeowners are coping with downed trees and other damage, and tens of thousands of individuals were without power,” Hassan said in a statement Sunday. "The utilities have brought in additional crews, and are working to completely restore power. Department of Transportation crews are out working to re-open state roads and to support local communities where possible in their clean-up efforts."

Saturday's storms knocked out power to more than 65,000 homes and businesses. Work to restore power to those customers continues.

Eversource says more than 500 line and tree workers are working to restore power to about 13,000 homes and businesses still affected by outages.

The company has brought in crews from Massachusetts and Connecticut to assist local workers.

New Hampshire Electric Cooperative says it has about 3,100 customers without power, while Until reports about 270 outages remain, down from about 6,400 last night.

That's down from over 65,000 at the peak of the storm.

Eversource says it has deployed 64 tree crews to towns including Hopkinton, Weare, Manchester and Merrimack.

Unitil spokesperson Alec O'Meara says crews worked overnight, starting with public safety concerns with first responders.

It has 60 additional crews working to get power back on.

Both companies say they expect to continue restoration work into Monday.

New Hampshire Electric Cooperative says it has about 3,100 customers without power.

The original story is below:

Strong thunderstorms left more than 65,000 New Hampshire homes and businesses without power Saturday night.  Most of the outages are concentrated in the southern half of the state.  As of 9 p.m., more than 9,000 Eversource customers in Manchester are without power.  Other communities with widespread outages include Canterbury, Boscawen, Weare, Hopkinton, Dunbarton and Loudon.

Most of the state was under a severe thunderstorm warning early Saturday evening as strong winds, heavy rain and hail moved through the region.

WMUR reports Nashua was hit hard by the storms with downed wires and a brush fire in Mines Falls City Park.  The fire was contained by 8:30 p.m.
