Trump Rolls into New Hampshire, New Controversy in His Wake

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is scheduled to campaign in Portsmouth tomorrow night.

It will be his first campaign stop in the state since his call for a “total and and complete shutdown” of Muslims entering the country. And the visit won't come without pushback.

Trump will start the evening at a meeting of the New England Police Benevolent Association. He plans to be on stage at the Sheraton Portsmouth Harborside Hotel around 7 p.m. Thursday.

It's his first campaign stop in the state since his proposal to bar Muslims from the country. Several prominent New Hampshire Republicans have condemned his remarks on Muslims, including the state's GOP chairwoman Jennifer Horn, who called Trump's proposal unconstitutional and un-American. Trump supporters are currently sending around a petition for Horn’s resignation.

Meanwhile, a poll released this week shows Trump gaining support in the state —32 percent of likely Republican voters in New Hampshire say they'll pick him.

That survey, conducted by CNN and WMUR, was taken before Trump’s call earlier this week to bar Muslims from the country.

Trump supporters will be greeted tonight by protesters with The American Friends Service Committee. The nonpartisan group says they plan to hold signs that read “Love is Stronger than Hate” and  “We Welcome Refugees."
