Understanding ISIS And Islamic Extremism: Myths And Solutions

We’re sitting down with diplomat and scholar Haroon Ullah to talk about ISIS and some common myths about Islamic extremism. We’re also looking at how the United States could improve foreign policy to combat violent extremism.

  • Haroon Ullah - an international scholar, U.S.  diplomat, and field researcher specializing in South Asia and the Middle East. He was a member of the late Ambassador Richard Holbrooke's policy team on Pakistan and Afghanistan, and currently serves on Secretary Kerry's Policy Planning Staff at the U.S. State Department, where he focuses on public diplomacy and countering violent extremism.

Dr. Ullah is in New Hampshire for two World Affairs Council events today (12/11/14). Both events are free and open to the public.
