Veterans Get Help For Thanksgiving

At the Fort Bragg military base in North Carolina recently, 400 families received free turkeys and all the fixings for their Thanksgiving dinners. The help was needed because an estimated 20 percent of the families around the base are living in poverty.

The need spreads beyond North Carolina. An Iraq veteran in Massachusetts responded by collecting money to give turkeys to veterans and other needy people in the town of Natick.

Here & Now’s Alex Ashlock was there Saturday morning when the turkeys were distributed, and brought us this report.
