Want Black Friday Discounts? Shop Local...and Wear Plaid.

Dozens of New Hampshire small businesses will be offering deals this weekend but not for Black Friday -- rather they're celebrating “Plaid Friday.”

Retailers from the Monadnock region to the Seacoast will have events and sales Friday for shoppers sporting their best plaid attire.

In Concord, a bookstore, bead shop and running retailer are among the stores offering discounts for plaid wearing customers.

Kate Fleming of Intown Concord says supporting local business can give an extra boost to the local economy.

“What we think of it as the weaving of threads of small businesses together to create a strong community of these independent businesses, so everyone is kind of working together, encouraging people to come down - almost like the antidote to Black Friday,” Fleming said.

Stores across the state will also be offering deals for what is known as “Small Business Saturday.” For more information on individual offers go to IntownConcord.orgIntownManchester.comMonadnocklocal.org and Seacoastlocal.org.
