All this week we're sharing episodes of Wyoming Public Media's podcast HumaNature.

Winner of a 2015 PRNDI podcast award, HumaNature tells real stories where humans and our habitat meet, produced and distributed by Wyoming Public Media.

Along the way, host Caroline Ballard meets people whose encounters with nature help us reflect on our own place in the world.

Monday - One Hour Special #1

A special hour-long edition of HumaNature: a man in the wilderness searches a lake for a missing boater, a recovering alcoholic sets out to canoe the whole Missouri River, and a fishing retreat helps heal a woman with a secret.

Tuesday - One Hour Special #3

A man walks from Mexico to the tip of South America with his best friend, a donkey; a man crosses the Atlantic to deliver livestock to post-World War II Europe; and an outdoorsy woman discovers she has more to learn about the wilderness.

Wednesday - One Hour Special #4

Stories of animal encounters. A scientist risks his reputation to pursue Bigfoot; pigeons save the day by getting camera film across a river; a shark attack survivor becomes a shark conservation advocate; animals comfort a woman troubled by the political landscape.

Thursday - One Hour Special #5

Journeys to freedom, on two legs…and four. Ten years ago, more than 50 pit bulls were discovered at a dogfighting ring in Virginia. Most people thought they couldn’t be saved. But their stories had just begun. And 150 years ago, two girls crossed the Missouri River trying to escape a life of slavery. In the summer of 2016, a high school teacher and his students set out on a 500-mile journey to follow in their footsteps.
