Granite State Gen Ed: Student Loan Debt 101

Student loan debt as a campaign issue: this week, President Obama visited college students in Colorado, North Carolina and Iowa and made urgent appeals to keep interest rates low for current and future college students.  The house will vote Friday (4/27/12) on legislation that could keep the interest rate on government-subsidized undergraduate student loans from doubling in July.

New tactics for the 99%... Hundreds of Occupy Wall Street demonstrators descended on San Francisco yesterday in an attempt to crash banking giant Wells Fargo's annual shareholders meeting. Dozens of shareholder- protestors were ejected from the meeting for shouting about lofty executive pay, demanding the company pays a fair share of corporate taxes, and calling for a moratorium on home foreclosures.

Is depression in the blood?

A pair of new studies indicates that depression could be detectable by a blood test. So far, depression has primarily been diagnosed through non-medical means and descriptions of common symptoms. Here with more on the recently discovered connection between the brain and blood is Jennifer Welsh, staff writer for Live Science who  wrote about the research.

Friday Is For Memes: Hologram Tupac

Tupac Shakur's posthumous, holographic performance at Coachella just may vault him to the top of the pack of hardworking dead performers - sure, Elvis tours regularly even though he died in '77, and Johnny Cash has released several critically-acclaimed albums after his official final curtain in 2003, but neither of them went viral the way Hologram Tupac has.
