Tonight on the Front Porch, musician Ellis Paul stops by our studio with his guitar to play a few songs for us. The singer-songwriter was one of the performers who helped shape the Boston folk scene of the mid-1990s and he quickly rose to national popularity. Some say he bridges the gap between the modern folk sound and populist traditions of artists like Woody Guthrie. We'll talk with him about his work and the subtle differences he sees between being a singer-songwriter and a folk musician.
Ellis Paul will perform at the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, Maine, on September 14th.
He'll perform at the Tupelo Music Hall in Londonderry, New Hampshire, on September 21st.
Ellis will also join Kate McNally on NHPR's Folk Show on Sunday, September 16th.
