In recent days, Gov. Chris Sununu has used the fate of the Children’s Health Insurance Program as a key talking point in his efforts to publicly pressure New Hampshire’s Congressional delegation to vote in favor of deals to avert a government shutdown. When news broke Monday that such a deal had been reached, Sununu offered a sigh of relief.

Sununu Urges Congress to Refund Community Health Centers

Gov. Chris Sununu and neighboring Vermont Gov. Phil Scott are urging Congress to reauthorize funding for the states’ community health centers. 

Failing to do so would result in the loss of $16 million for New Hampshire alone.

At least for now, New Hampshire seems to be in a better position than other states to weather a lapse in federal funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program, or CHIP, after Congress failed to reauthorize it by last week’s deadline.
