As Snow Flies, N.H. Contemplates Using Less Salt

The southern tier of the state is getting its first dusting of snow of the winter season this morning. As it does, the first question on the minds of many is probably “how is the driving?”

We have never been better at keeping roads clear during snow-storms, but now for environmental and budgetary reasons the question is how to use less salt.

Construction At Hooksett Rest Area Is 'Months' Ahead Of Schedule

  Visitors coming to New Hampshire this Fourth of July weekend via interstate 93 likely noticed the redevelopment of the new rest-stop facilities in Hooksett is moving quickly. According to the Department of Transportation, construction at the rest-area is about three to four months ahead of schedule.

Plane in I-93 Crash Once Made Emergency Landing in Nashua

Two people are dead after their plane crashed alongside Interstate 93 in Hooksett.

NHPR’s Sam Evans-Brown was on the scene earlier today. He tells All Things Considered host Brady Carlson about what police have confirmed about the Doris and Herman Hassenger, the people killed in the crash, and about the plane's history.

Questions Over I-93 Funding Creates Economic Uncertainty

The state commissioner of transportation warns that if the federal government moves ahead with a plan to cut $40 million of New Hampshire’s yearly highway funds—the completion of I-93 will be placed on hold, indefinitely.  One portion that remains unfinished is exit 3 near Windham.

Many businesses there say the uncertainty of I-93’s future is hurting the local economy.
