On Demand: What's New To Netflix, Redbox, And Amazon Prime For July 2014

Picking out a movie can be a lot like browsing the cereal aisle - the more options you have, the harder it is to decide what to watch.  It's an especially difficult process for subscription-based services like Netflix and Amazon Prime, which offer you more programming than you can even browse in one sitting. As if that wasn't hard enough, these services are constantly adding and removing dozens of titles with little to no warning. In our monthly segment "On Demand", we  aim to help you make your movie nights memorable by offering our favorite movies and shows being made available this month.

If you subscribe to Netflix Instant you already know that its selection is vast, but finding something you really want to watch can still be a challenge.  There are dozens of new titles added every month, and although  many of them aren't exactly fresh, there's still plenty worth watching, even if it is for the second time. Here are a few of the best Netflix offerings for June, both new and old.

Orange is The New Black: Season 2

Netflix may not have a lot of new movies to offer this month, and I'll get to that in a bit, but they're making up for it by serving up the highly-anticipated second season of their original show, Orange is the New Black.  Available June 6th.

Today on Word of Mouth, we take a trip to the land of Trebek for a lesson on Jeopardy theory. And who doesn't love a good Netflix binge? But what if that Netflix binge takes a year and a half and covers 20 years worth of episodes? We hear from the man who watched 456 episodes of Law & Order to document the use of computers in the show.

Next, we head over to Sad YouTube, a project meant to highlight humanity in a sea of negative YouTube comments.

Our last two segments bring us back to reality. First, a look at sexism in the Philosophy department of University of Colorado-Boulder. And finally, NHPR's Amanda Loder visits the NH ski club of a US Olympian.

Guess what. (What?!). You got the better of Monday. Reward yourself with a healthy dose of Word of Mouth. Today, we're looking at mental illness in our ancient ancestors, the prudish beginnings of the graham cracker (minus the chocolate and marshmallow), Netflix documentaries, and the choreography of Doug Elkins. Dance your heart out, relax with Netflix, and replenish with a s'more. Just steer clear of the ancient hallucination-inducing furies. Listen to the full show and scroll down for more on each segment.
