After Pilot, 'Bar Exam For Teachers' Set To Launch State-Wide

As early as next year, college students in New Hampshire teacher preparation programs will be taking a new test. It’s known as the TCAP, and all 14 of the state’s teacher education schools are adopting it voluntarily. While some states have opted to sign on to tests designed elsewhere, the Granite State has blazed its own trail when it comes to creating what has been compared to a bar exam for teachers.

Every student teacher who has graduated from UNH knows about the Portfolio. It was a collection of reams of lesson plans, tests, handouts; the artifacts of teaching.

Nine Companies Share More Than $100K In Job Training Grants

Five N.H. Companies Receiving $72K In Job Training Grants

Five New Hampshire companies will get job training grants totaling roughly $72,000.

Governor Maggie Hassan announced the awards this morning.

Phase 2 Medical Manufacturing of Rochester will use a grant of approximately $32,000 to train 67 employees.

And Relyco Sales Incorporated in Dover is receiving $25,700, which will be used to train 17 employees in sales.

D.D. Bean & Sons Company of Jaffrey, Collins Home Innovation Corporation and New Hampshire Auto Dealers Services Incorporated are also receiving grants.

Each company matches the grant.

Hybrid Car Races are a Bridge from Students to Carmakers

This week some of the world’s top engineering students converge at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway to race hybrid cars. The cars are student designed and built, and for some of those students, a good showing at Loudon is a ticket to ride.
