Many candidates are gearing up for the general election this November, but New Hampshire still has a Primary coming on September 11th. Granite Staters will be voting to winnow the field of candidates for governor, and these candidates are using TV commercials as part of their campaign strategy.

Ask your average American about Florida, and you'll hear something like this: It's hot, it has Disney World, and lots of old people live there.

And since the weather and Mickey Mouse don't make good attack ads, both presidential campaigns are trying to scare the bejeezus out of Florida's senior population over Medicare.

Candidate Filings Only Part of Election Money Picture in New Hampshire

The candidates for governor are touting their fundraising ahead of Wednesday's midnight deadline to submit campaign finance.

What we know so far: Republican Ovide Lamontagne says his campaign raised about $1.2 million dollars. Democrat Maggie Hassan, $930,000; Democrat Jackie Cilley about $281 thousand dollars. No word as of Wednesday afternoon from Republican Kevin Smith.

That's what we know; but there’s a lot we don’t know about campaign money. And many election observers say a lot of campaign money won’t ever show up in candidate reports anyway.

Cilley Stumps With Firefighters (and free food)

The professional firefighters are one of several public sector unions to back Jackie Cilley in the democratic primary. At a firehouse in Manchester, Cilley said the state needs to do better by public employees, and to do that, she says, will require more than simply winning the concern office.

"I would ask you to support those who are running for rational policies and common sense in our statehouse because we have a state to take back and take forward."

They held a town hall meeting on a college campus in New Hampshire, the same state where President Obama campaigned Saturday. It was the running mates first event together since Romney added Ryan to the ticket one week ago. NPR's Ari Shapiro reports from Manchester.

Speaking at an outdoor rally that drew close to 3000 people, Mitt Romney said the first victim of an Obama campaign has been the truth. The former Massachusetts governor added that he has made a promise not to increase taxes, and that he will stick to it.

Democratic Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen from came to New Hampshire Wednesday to talk about the federal budget with prominent state democrats and business leaders on behalf of the Obama campaign.

As the top Democrat in the House Budget Committee, Chris Van Hollen has spoken out against Paul Ryan and his budget. Now, he is doing the same thing, this time for the Obama Presidential Campaign, by visiting swing states like New Hampshire.

G.O.P Gubernatorial Rivals Spar Over Gambling, Budget

In a largely bloodless exchange, Lamontagne and Smith took turns answering audience-submitted questions in front of the standing-room only crowd.

Both candidates said they oppose the expansion of Medicaid under the Affordable Healthcare Act.

Both candidates affirmed they are pro-life and that they support traditional marriage.

They both staunchly oppose broad-based income or sales taxes.

But the two GOP candidates broke step when a question came up about bringing gambling to the granite state.

Former Governor Sununu says Obama Needs to "Learn How to Be an American"

Former New Hampshire Governor and current Mitt Romney surrogate John Sununu made national headlines, and began trending on Twitter, Tuesday when he made some controversial comments about President Obama.


Sununu’s comments came during a conference call with reporters.


“The men and women all over America who have worked hard to build these businesses, their businesses from the ground up, is how our economy became the envy of the world. It is the American way and I wish this president would learn how to be an American.”
