A Massachusetts state trooper accused of beating a suspect in New Hampshire following a 50-mile pursuit in 2016 has been acquitted.

A jury issued the verdict Thursday afternoon, bringing an end to the trial in Nashua. Thirty-three-year-old Joseph Flynn was found not guilty on both counts of simple assault.

Flynn's attorneys say they are grateful for the jury's decision and say Flynn will likely begin the process of being reinstated as a state trooper in Massachusetts.

Aldermen in New Hampshire have approved a memorandum that will bring commuter rail services to Nashua.

The Tuesday night unanimous approval of the memorandum of understanding means the city can begin work immediately with the Rhode Island-based Boston Surface Railroad Co to create a detailed plan. The Nashua Telegraph reports the plan says it will create a train service connecting Bedford and Nashua to Lowell, Massachusetts.

Nashua is not liable for any of the funding for the service, though it will assist Boston Surface in looking for grants and federal loans.

New Hampshire fire officials say no one was injured in a small plane crash at the Nashua Airport over the weekend.

Officials say the crash occurred Sunday as the plane was attempting to land but instead hit an adjacent grassy area. WMUR-TV reports  the grass caused the plane to veer off the runway and into a culvert several hundred yards away.

Both occupants got out by themselves and no one was injured.

The Nashua Airport Authority and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation will investigate.

There’s an aldermen race going on next week in Manchester. And one of the candidates on the ballot would be the city’s youngest elected if he wins.

He turned 20 Thursday, attends UNH Manchester, and is a refugee from Kuwait.

But first he’ll have to clear Tuesday’s primary before he can even make it onto November’s ballot.

Nashua lawmakers rejected a proposal on Tuesday to buy the former campus of Daniel Webster College off University Drive.

The city's aldermen voted on whether to spend up to $23 million to purchase the property, and use it for city administrative buildings, classrooms and a performing arts center.

Those against the purchase argued the property wasn’t feasible and cost too much. The measure failed 4 to 9. The campus has been for sale since the college shut its doors for financial reasons earlier this year.

The city’s board of aldermen voted unanimously without debate to do so Tuesday. A public hearing is scheduled for Oct. 10.

Manchester, Berlin, Laconia and Rochester will also have Keno on the ballot. So far Portsmouth is the only city yet to reject it.

Earlier this year the Governor legalized Keno, but each city and town will decide whether it’s played in its borders. Revenue generated from the games will go to fund full-day kindergarten programs statewide.

On Tuesday, Nashua's Board of Aldermen will decide the fate of a $15.5 million proposal to build a performing arts center on Main Street.

The proposal calls for a 500 to 700 seat theater and event center. The project has been in the works for years and has received strong backing from many downtown businesses, the Chamber of Commerce and Nashua Community College.

There’s also a petition going around with more than 500 online signatures. But some aldermen have reservations with the project's cost.

Renaissance-style frescoes are rare in this country. Yet one hangs on a wall in Nashua’s community theater.

At the Court Street building, summer campers dance and run through the hallways. The room is jammed and the kids barely notice the mural with its bright sun shining on Main Street icons, parks and river-ways.
