He had earlier served as mayor of Baltimore and on the Baltimore City Council.O'Malley has staked out liberal stances on a number of issues, including immigration, the death penalty, same-sex marriage and gun control. As governor, he supported the effort to legalize gay marriage in Maryland and also sought to repeal the death penalty.A lawyer by training, O'Malley got his start in politics with Gary Hart's 1984 presidential bid, working on the campaign's New Hampshire effort.

Democratic presidential candidate and former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley sits down with Exchange host Laura Knoy and Senior Political Reporter Josh Rogers for an in-depth discussion about the issues on New Hampshire voters’ minds this election season. 

The forum was broadcast live on Monday, December 21st in front of an audience in NHPR's studios. Following the forum with Gov. O'Malley, Dean Spiliotes, civil scholar at Southern New Hampshire University and founder of the website NHPoliticalCapital.com joined Laura and Josh to recap the recent Democratic debate.
