New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services officials say residents of roughly 400 homes affected by PFOA contamination may need to drink bottled water all summer.
WMUR-TV reports the bottled water is being provided by the state to residents in Litchfield, Merrimack, Londonderry, Bedford and Manchester.
State officials recently uncovered high levels of PFOA contamination in wells located near the Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics plant in Merrimack.
DES Assistant Commissioner Clark Freise says the agency wants neighborhoods to drink bottled water if they have wells testing at levels higher than 100 parts per trillion for the contaminant.
Friese says the DES is working with Saint-Gobain to look at options for impacted residents. In the meantime, the state is continuing to deliver bottled water to affected homes.
