Calling All Listeners For The 'NPR Cities Project'

MELISSA BLOCK, HOST:

Two weeks from today, we launch a new series called the NPR Cities Project.

ROBERT SIEGEL, HOST:

We'll be reporting on issues that confront cities all over these days, issues that probably come up where you live.

UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN: I feel like there's more and more tools to reach out across the world, but it's still hard to reach out to your entire neighborhood.

UNIDENTIFIED MAN #1: I think one of the great things about living in the city is that you really do sense - it has this fourth dimension of time. You know, as you walk down the street, you sense what was done 100 years ago, 50 years ago. And those are things we don't want to lose.

UNIDENTIFIED MAN #2: There have been approximately 18 restaurants that have opened up - and led to a real transformation of this neighborhood.

SIEGEL: We're asking for your input to the Cities Project. Tell us what you think of as the heart of your city; your favorite neighborhood or park, corner shop, hidden treasure. Send us your photos and your sound.

BLOCK: We love sound. Go to NPR.org/nprcities to contribute. And you can follow the project on Twitter @nprcities.
