Dan Innis Asks Donors To Give To Drug Recovery Center Instead of His Campaign

Republican candidate for Congress, Daniel Innis, is asking supporters to donate to a Manchester drug treatment center instead of his campaign.

On Tuesday, his campaign sent out an email asking that “in lieu of a year-end Innis for Congress campaign contribution, you please consider a donation to Hope for New Hampshire,” a Manchester clinic Innis says he visited last week.

Two hours after the email was sent, Hope for New Hampshire’s chairperson, Melissa Crews, reports receiving donations from Innis supporters.

“For the campaign, I'll probably raise a little less money this quarter,” Innis says, “campaign funds are important, I can work on that next quarter.” For now, he adds, “this is the right thing to do.”

Innis’ plea could also endear him to potential donors. Two hours after pressing the “send” button, Innis says, his campaign has also received contributions.

As for why Innis would ask potential donors to put their dollars in someone else’s coffers, he says he was planning to ask for year-end political donations, when he visited the Manchester recovery center, Hope for New Hampshire.  “I was really impressed,” he says.
