A former St. Paul's School teacher accused of interfering with an investigation into the school pled guilty in Merrimack Superior Court today. David Pook was sentenced to spend four months in jail.
Pook's conspiracy to commit false swearing and contempt of court charges stemmed from email and phone conversations he had with a former student. Investigators say Pook had a sexual relationship with the former student. She, like Pook, was called before a grand jury earlier this year to testify as part of an investigation into sexual misconduct at St. Paul's.
Prosecutors say Pook told the former student to lie to the grand jury.
Associate Attorney General Jane Young said a message should be sent to respect the court.
"The conduct of this defendant and the co-conspirator sidetracked this investigation for months because of their concerted effort to lie," Young added.
Pook had worked as a teacher at the Derryfield School in Manchester after leaving St. Paul's. He was fired from Derryfield after his arrest in February.
Pook’s attorney, Mark Sisti, said allegations that his client had inappropriate sexual contact with any student while at St. Paul’s were unfounded.
