N.H. Democrats Rename 'Jefferson-Jackson' Event After Kennedy, Clinton

The New Hampshire Democratic Party has changed the controversial name of its Jefferson-Jackson dinner, an annual fundraiser held in the fall.

The event will now be called the Kennedy-Clinton dinner, after former presidents John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton. The new name is being used for the next installment of the dinner, scheduled for Oct. 29.

Democratic parties in several other states have made similar decisions to no longer recognize former presidents Thomas Jefferson and Andrew Jackson, both of whom were known to have owned slaves.

Democrats in South Carolina dropped the "Jefferson-Jackson" title from their fundraiser in August.

Democrats in Iowa and Georgia voted to make the change last year.
