Ovide Lamontagne Takes Major Anti-Abortion Job In D.C.

New Hampshire Public Radio

Former gubernatorial candidate Ovide Lamontagne has taken a job in Washington D.C. And this may take him out of the running for future political races.

Ovide Lamontangne, the attorney who ran for both U.S. Senate and New Hampshire governor  will become general counsel for Americans United for Life, a top national anti-abortion law firm and advocacy group. Lamontagne says he and his wife will move to Washington but will keep a home in New Hampshire.

“Well I won’t be running for office in 2014. I’m going to make my full-time commitment to Americans United for Life over the next two and a half years and we’ll see where life takes us.”

Lamontagne, a Manchester native proud of his Franco-American heritage, says it was a difficult decision to put aside near-future political ambitions in the state but that abortion is, to him, the most important civil rights and social justice issue of our time.

Before becoming a reporter for NHPR, Ryan devoted many months interning with The Exchange team, helping to produce their daily talk show. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in Manchester with a major in Politics and Society and a minor in Communication Arts. While in school, he also interned for a DC-based think tank. His interests include science fiction and international relations. Ryan is a life-long Manchester resident.
