Recounting The Civil War Through Letters

In 2002, Concord Monitor writer Mike Pride received a letter in the mail mentioning two pieces of authentic Civil War correspondence. A Civil War buff since he was a teenager, Mike soon discovered that New Hampshire was teeming with historic accounts of the soldiers and families that served in the Union Army.

Mike has compiled 50 stories touching upon the universal themes and experiences of the war viewed through the lives of New Hampshire union soldiers and their families. his book is called “Our War: Days and Events in the Fight for the Union." He will be reading excerpts from his book on November 29 at Gibson's Bookstore in Concord, New Hampshire.
