Two retired U.S. Supreme Court justices will share the same New Hampshire stage this week.
Retired Justice Sandra Day O'Connor — the first woman appointed to the nation's highest court — will be the keynote speaker at this year's "Constitutionally Speaking" lecture Wednesday night at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord.
She will be introduced by retired Justice David Souter, who founded the lecture series to spark discussion about citizens' rights and responsibilities.
O'Connor's topic will be "The State of Democracy in America Today." The event is free to the public but so many registered that the event is full. Organizers say there will be a "stand-by line" outside the theater for any seats empty 10 minutes prior to the lecture's 6 p.m. start time.
