SNHU Decides Against Buying Former Daniel Webster Campus

Southern New Hampshire University will not be buying the 54-acre campus previously known as Daniel Webster College in Nashua.

The college announced this fall it was closing due to financial problems.

At the time, SNHU said it would help its students transition to SNHU or other schools with similar programs. In the end, more than a third of the 618 Daniel Webster students transferred to SNHU.

Many of those students have engineering backgrounds. And in order to accommodate them, the University has built new facilities, such as an engineering warehouse with a wind tunnel, and new labs for mechanical and aeronautical engineering.

Lauren Keane, Director of Communications for the university, says SNHU was interested in the Daniel Webster Campus but ultimately decided not to purchase it.

“The price just wasn’t making sense for our needs and our students’ needs," Keane said. "We felt that we had the best facilities in Manchester for those students and felt like that was the best fit for those students.”

The former Daniel Webster campus is now for sale and open to other bidders.
