Nottingham state rep. Kyle Tasker is facing calls for his resignation. Tasker has been charged with four felonies, including using a computer to lure a minor to have sex and drug possession with intent to sell.
Kyle Tasker is accused of using Facebook to lure what he believed was a 14-year-old girl into a sexual encounter.
Instead, Tasker was communicating with police, who arrested him when he arrived to meet the girl on Lucas Pond Road in Nottingham Tuesday.
A search of Tasker's residence turned up what prosecutors described as an enormous amount of controlled substances, including marijuana, hallucinogenic mushrooms and prescription pills, that looked to be packaged for distribution. Loaded weapons were also found throughout the house.
House Speaker Shawn Jasper says Tasker needs to resign immediately.
"Meeting up with a 14 year old girl for sex, that was certainly shocking. I think many of us suspected representative Tasker had issues with drugs, but certainly the scope of the allegations are stunning."
Tasker is a Republican in his third term, he sat on the children and family law committee. He's stirred controversy before, by dropping a gun during a committee meeting at the state house, and with Facebook postings that joked about domestic violence and race.
State GOP chairman Jennifer Horn has also called on Tasker to resign.
A judge set Tasker's bail at $250,000 cash.
Here is the release sent by House Speaker Jasper to the media via email in response to Tasker's arrest:
