N.H. claimed the number one spot for receiving high marks for crime, health care quality and overall tax structure.

New Hampshire is the best state in the country in which to retire. That’s according to the financial website Bankrate.com.

Its new report gave New Hampshire high marks for overall well-being, crime and healthcare quality and tax structure.

“New Hampshire may not fit the stereotype of a great place to retire when people are thinking of places like Florida or Arizona but it does have a lot to offer the pragmatic retiree that is looking for a good quality of life in a lot of different areas," said Claes Bell, a data analyst at Bankrate.com.

New Hampshire; however, came in fifth to last for having the best weather. Other New England states that made top ten include Maine coming in third and Massachusetts in seventh.
