Writers on a New England Stage: Erik Larson

Bestselling author Erik Larson, discussing “In the Garden of Beasts” live at the Portsmouth Music Hall for the Writers on a New England Stage Series. The book is set in Berlin, 1933; the year Hitler became chancellor.  American ambassador to Germany, William Dodd, and his family are intimate witnesses to the oppression and terror that rose along with the Third Reich. Virginia Prescott talks with Erik Larson about isolationism, the accuracy of eyewitnesses, and the dual nature of discovering new stories in Nazi Germany.
