The race for control of the New Hampshire Senate is playing out across the state’s 24 Senate districts.
But, thanks in part to years of partisan gerrymandering, the majority of those districts are not terribly competitive, with either Democrats or Republicans all but guaranteed a victory.
In fact, there’s just a handful of true “battleground” Senate districts which could decide the balance of power in the chamber.
To illustrate just how narrow the partisan divide of the current state Senate can be, here are a few of the bills that passed or failed by just a single vote in this year’s legislative session. (Note: In New Hampshire's Legislature, a tie vote on a bill means it is killed.)
Depending on how Tuesday’s results stack up, this list could be a lot longer next year.
